Karak Cafe
Opening Summer 2025 in Calgary, Café Karak is an intimate new street-food café inspired by the heart of Pakistani culture — and built for the modern palate. The brand needed to feel soulful, stylish, and unmistakably of the moment, while honoring the deep traditions behind its most iconic ingredient: chai.
Bujou Studios led the full branding package, weaving together culture, trend, and taste into a visual identity that feels both rooted and fresh. From logo design to cultural research, we brought together every ingredient needed to craft a brand that resonates with tradition — and photographs beautifully.

What We Did
Our goal was to create a brand that felt deeply intentional — one that didn’t just look good on Instagram, but also told a story.
We began with in-depth creative research, exploring the textures, colors, and typography found in both modern and historic Pakistani design. We studied local dialect, confirmed the accuracy of the Urdu script, and pulled from visual references that would lend cultural credibility while still aligning with Calgary’s café scene.
The final wordmark features a signature “steam” accent rising from the letter E — a subtle nod to chai’s warmth and daily ritual — paired with a secondary Urdu logotype beneath the English, rooting the brand in authenticity. The result is clean, modern, and magnetic — with just the right amount of heritage woven in.
We also developed the supporting visual system — from color palette to typography to vibe direction — that will guide the space’s physical and digital presence as it opens.
The Results
Café Karak now enters the market with a brand that feels both aspirational and approachable — instantly recognizable, culturally grounded, and built for long-term resonance. Bujou’s work ensures the brand doesn’t just serve chai — it serves identity, charm, and a sense of place.
For emerging hospitality brands, this project proves that thoughtful design can be a bridge: between past and present, tradition and trend, story and scale.
